HISTORY

Don Bosco Football Academy, based in Kochi, Kerala, is a top-tier football academy with a two-star accreditation from the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Established in 2016, it excels in the Kerala Premier League and is the first team to represent Kerala in the National Qualifier Round in the Pre-Subroto Mukherji Football Championship. Affiliated with the Kerala Football Association, it’s known for fair play and nurturing young talent through its Football Nursery.

Saint Don Bosco, the Catholic saint of youth from Italy, believed in educating with the heart. His Preventive System focused on Reason, Religion, and Loving Kindness to teach youth through empathy and kindness rather than punishment. With an active presence in more than 130 nations worldwide, the Salesian Missionaries of Don Bosco work globally to empower youth, running reputed skill development institutions to nurture the intellectual, artistic and athletic talents of the youth.

In 2017, Don Bosco Football Academy was accredited with a 1-star rating by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). It was further accredited with a 2-star rating in 2019. The academy started the Football Nursery and became the champion of the Under 15 Category in Kerala and runner-up of Under 13 in the All Kerala Academy League conducted by the Kerala Football Association (KFA). At present Don Bosco FA is one of the top-rated academies in Kerala and holds the 16th position in the All India Football Federation’s academy accreditation.

Don Bosco FA is owned by the Don Bosco Sports Development Society of the Salesian Province of Bangalore, which came into existence on 19th March 1979. The Province, comprising of three states (Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh) of South India in 1979 with 15 houses and 184 members made a marvelous growth in the past years. Now there are 349 members in the Sacred Heart Province of Bangalore who reach out to the poorest of the poor through 44 centers spread over the states of Karnataka and Kerala. There are 25 schools, 7 colleges and 9 technical institutions currently under the Province.

The crest has a simple design with six hexagons which are identical to the stitches on a football. These six hexagons together form the shape of a football, with each one symbolizing different elements like a loving and welcoming campus that creates an environment of confidence and familiarity, faith which inspires to stand rooted in God, education that prepares for life, a playground which encourages values and attitudes of confidence, legacy that inspires to dream and the preventive system based on reason, religion and loving kindness.

The team’s home jersey is blue embedded with a golden logo and the away kit is yellow with blue logo embedded on it.

Don Bosco’s 11th Football Ground is the home ground of the Don Bosco Football Academy. The ground has the legacy of the Don Bosco Trophy Football Tournament, the oldest recognized football tournament in Kerala and the second oldest in India.
